MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE DEAF

Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, Inc. provides mental health deaf services for adults in Nassau County. In fact, we are the only agency to provide case management services in the county for this population. Our skilled staff is fluent in sign language and culturally competent.

Our Program Objectives & Goals:

  • Provide direct care services including mental health counseling, medication management, care coordination and family support for individuals who prefer to communicate in sign language.

  • Integration and coordination of their mental health services.

  • Assist individuals in developing illness management skills, achieve employment goals, and make satisfying use of leisure, recreation and socialization time.

  • Reduce any gaps in service delivery with external agencies that may have difficulties communicating with Deaf and Hearing Impaired individuals.

  • Assist individuals to achieve their stated goals and mobilize themselves within our accessible community.

  • Develop a coordinated approach toward providing comprehensive, community-based mental health services for Deaf and Hearing Impaired individuals and their families.
