About CN Guidance

You are not alone
Each year, an estimated 1 in 5 or 567,400 Long Island residents suffer from some form of mental health disorder. But many suffer in silence—because many can’t ask for help, especially those who need it the most. That’s why it is so important for friends, families, and neighbors to be the voice of those who can’t or won’t initially seek help for themselves. CN Guidance & Counseling Services is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization with experience since 1972.
CN (Central Nassau) Guidance & Counseling Services has grown substantially since its inception. Our evolution has been shaped largely by the emerging needs of consumers as they move through the process of recovery.

Our Mission:
CN Guidance & Counseling Services, a nonprofit organization, inspires and catalyzes recovery for people living with mental health and substance use conditions through innovative and person-centered integrated clinical treatment, counseling, housing and support services — empowering those served to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

2018
To meet unprecedented demand due in part to the opioid crisis, the agency serves almost 7,000 clients by the end of the year – more than tripling the number (2,209) from 2013.
2017
CN Guidance & Counseling Services is designated as the only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) on Long Island – and one of only 13 in NY State & 67 in the US – enabling it to provide comprehensive, integrated behavioral and medical healthcare under one roof. CN Guidance adds new employees and facility space over the next two year to deliver a wide range of services, including immediate screening, diagnosis, and linkage to treatment for mental health, addictions, and chronic health conditions.
2016
CN Guidance & Counseling Services opens a new 21,000-square foot facility in Plainview, Nassau County, expanding the nonprofit’s and region’s capacity to serve individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders, during an era of escalating demand and high need.

Project FORWARD (Facing Obstacles in Relationships and Work with Action, Resources, Direction) launches to provide adults and adolescents who live with mental health and/or substance use-related disorders with coaching, skill-building, and other support in building healthy relationships with partners, family members, and local employers.

What people are saying
I would like to thank my therapist for taking me out of the dark place I was in and bringing me into the light that shines for me every day. Without her I don’t know what my life would’ve been. I would like to thank her and the JCC program for all of their help. This program is the best thing that happened in my life. I want to say thank you.
I am so glad that the agency has thought of a way to allow us to continue to get together during these times. I really enjoy calling in for my groups. I don’t know what I would do If I couldn’t get the support.
Due to non-COVID related health concerns this past year has been extraordinarily stressful for me and my spouse. Dealing with these stressors during a pandemic has made them all the more challenging. Having a therapist from the JCC to regularly talk to has been a light in the darkness. My therapist has been extraordinary- thoughtful, patient, kind, and caring. Thank you for this program, and for the support it has provided.
The workers fund will help me a lot, not only for me but people I love first. I thank God for his providence and blessings received since he gave me health and you proved that with him I was able to overcome. One of them is going through COVID this entire time, lost my job and started helping my mother who is a widow and an elderly person who depends on what I can to help her. Now I will be able to continue buying her medicine, daily food, pay my outstanding debts and even help my church. My church has been a mother to me in times of need and I can share a plate of food in this good time with those who supported me in difficult times.
I am simply grateful to the government and with the state of New York. I’m grateful to the foundations like you. Thank you thank you thank you God bless you.
My therapist is incredible and I’m so grateful to the JCC and UJA for this opportunity. Therapy has helped me so much and I feel like my transformation over the past six months has been enormous.
I can say with 100% certainty that under the guidance of my therapist through this program and the support of the JCC, I can see a future for myself that is as promising and hopeful instead of hopeless and bleak as many others would suffer from.
Before joining the JCC sponsored program for bereavement counseling, I was unsure what I could expect to gain or what I would get from the program. However, the exceptional support I have been receiving has not only assisted me with my recent loss, but helped me on a personal level in so many ways I never even imagined I would be forced to cope with. I have been given unique and strong tools as well as the encouragement so I have the ability to overcome many challenges I now face alone during this difficult time, specifically the feeling of loneliness, insecurity, and fear.
Surprisingly, one of the most profound realities I find myself dealing with, is my new role as a single parent, which is something I never anticipated before the loss of my wife.
I would like to take the time to applaud you CNG for the program that you put in place where people can apply for Medicaid because it has been a chaos when reaching out to the state. The best is that we can just do the application over the phone, no need to take off days from work. Especially in the Haitian community, we are so happy, blessed and proud to have one of your employees Ms. Sophia Eveillard who helped me , my mother and other friends. She is extremely great!!! She is very nice, patient, and takes her time to explain the benefits. The best is that she will follow-up just to make sure that everything is ok. Honestly, it’s never easy to find a Haitian to help in these matters. Thank you so much for this gift “Sophia Eveillard” to the Haitian community. She is trustful.
Thank you, I just wanted to appreciate a great help!!
I am so grateful to have this program. It has changed my life and now I’m not worried about having to go back to the hospital.
Seeing my peers and getting feedback from interns and staff helps me out a lot.
