You Are Not Alone

Did you know?

  1. Drug overdose is now a leading cause of death for adults under age 45
  2. An estimated 77,000 Long Island adults experience BOTH a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder in a correlated way (“co-occurring diagnoses”) that interfere with functioning or quality of life
  3. Many Long Island residents with mental health and/or substance use disorders are dying young – people with serious mental illness (SMI) die 25 years earlier than the general population, on average

CN Guidance brings together many key components to address these problems:

1. Providing education and outreach to the community and to individuals about the nature and magnitude of these related problems – and about services that are available to help individuals and families, including core services of CN Guidance

2. Offering a model of integrated services that treats each individual holistically. This means not treating symptoms or health problems in ‘silos’ and instead addressing the inter-relationship present among a person’s: (1) mental health disorders; (2) substance use disorders; (3) medical health disorders; and (4) psychological, sociological, and economic needs

3. Using cross-disciplinary (and sometimes mobile) teams and partnerships between organizations to provide the needed expertise to render services to clients holistically

4. Reaching out to the community for support (time, money, expertise)

How you can help

Funding to organizations (like CN Guidance) that provide services to individuals facing these conditions is becoming less stable during a time when our community and its residents most need support.

By making a donation, you can make a positive impact upon the life of someone in need.
